Private Residence

Private Residence, Davidson, NC

The Armour-Adams House, built in 1901, is a two-story Victorian style house on North Main Street in Davidson, NC. This small university and railroad town evolved in the last decade in the nineteenth century, allowing lumber and machinery more accessible, thus allowing for Queen Anne-like scrollwork and brackets, as well as turned porch support. All is original to the house and will be preserved.

The house went through an interior renovation and addition in the 1980’s and did not compliment the historic integrity of the house. The planned renovation will maintain these historic features and continue through the addition. The addition consists of adding a proper master bathroom, walk-in closet, reading porch, laundry room, kitchen exterior back door and new deck. All utilities will be brought up to date.

The current owners are committed to preserving the historic features. The house has received certification of the State of North Carolina Historic Preservation and construction began in early 2011.
